Hydrogen Tools
Sobre% {título}
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) accelerates development and facilitates deployment of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies and market-based solutions that strengthen U.S. energy security, environmental quality, and economic vitality. Hydrogen and fuel cells have the potential to offer a broad range of benefits for the environment, the economy and energy security. Safety is an essential element for establishing public confidence and reducing barriers toward the goals of decreasing our dependence on oil, reducing carbon emissions and enabling clean, reliable power generation. The Hydrogen Tools app is provided to help a variety of stakeholders consider the safety aspects of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies and systems. The app includes the following:
•A hydrogen safety best practices module with references, sharing the extensive experience of safely handling and using hydrogen
•A hydrogen safety events module which characterizes incidents and near-misses to facilitate the sharing of lessons learned and other safety information
•A hydrogen properties module with links to the source information
•A conversion calculator for doing simple conversions between four popular phase points of hydrogen
•A separation distances calculator (based on NFPA 2 and NFPA 55) to help the user to determine the minimum separation distance from an outdoor bulk hydrogen compressed gas system (>5,000 scf) to a specified enclosure
•A safety checklist for an outdoor hydrogen supply system for an indoor use (The checklist is intended to assist in both developing designs as well assessing risks for hydrogen systems.)
•A project safety planning guidance document
•Technical references on hydrogen compatibility and embrittlement
